Do Trees Have Dreams? starts with a simple repetitive synth pad which opens up in stages into more of a progression. In an atmospheric breakdown, an arpeggiated melody (Juno-6 / Space Echo) is introduced, giving the feeling of floating into the sky.
For this track, most of the melodic delay effects are produced with a series chain of Roland RE-201 emulation (Guitar Rig), Fabfilter Timeless and Fabfilter’s Volcano. Controllers are assigned to a dozen parameters to enable a fluid progression of sound.
The vocal sample is processed through Twisted Tools Scapes and then Absynth with a pitch envelope and Aetherizer.
A pitched-down field recording of a coffee shop adds an element of noise and unpredictability to the arrangement.
